More Stupidity from The Pit.

Got a review on The Pit for my story Playing with Fire (link leads to FF.net) that said--and I quote:

omg
that was umm well I can't really comment because I ama girl myself and if i
said that was "cool" or "awesome" it would sound like I am lesbian, which i'm
not

but Great penmenship

...? I don't understand... If you don't want to sound like you're a lesbian, then why would you a) read fanfic that is clearly marked as containing a lesbian pairing, b) read one that is clearly going to be sexual in nature (all you have to do is look at the summary and the rating to figure that one out) and c) comment on it in the first place?

Also, most importantly, why would you be concerned with whether or not someone on the internet who you don't know is going assume you're a lesbian, especially when that person is the one who wrote the fic. I just...

Damn it.

people on ff.net are morons. I've been specific about pairins and ratings before and have gotten flamed at for writing it. People are dumb, I just ignore them.

Psh, people have weird hang-ups, and she's probably only like 12 or so.

My main O_o was at the penmenship comment. I mean, wtf? It's printed on the computer in a standard font! I'm guessing she meant spelling/grammar but this is a strange way to express it.

Anywho, I'm not a lesbian either and I love that fic of yours, and write that pairing. I wonder what she'd make of me? XD

This just made me laugh. I hate getting comments that are worthless, and I'm starting to think I should make mine for registered users only.

But seriously. That is majorly bizarre, for all the reasons you stated.

I think what's most mind-boggling about that comment is the "penmanship" remark.

One of the reasons I never allowed anonymous reviews is that it cuts down on the crap comments. Not that it still won't happen, but I've only gotten 2 comments ever saying "I don't like Tyzula, and I'd like this story better without it." I just didn't reply, b/c like you, I say upfront what the pairings are. :P

that... that doesn't make any sense. O.o not even sideways.

Haha, yeah. XD So far I've gotten lucky and most of the reviews I've gotten have been pretty good, but this was just... Ugh.

On the other hand, it gave me an excellent opportunity to use this Scar icon so I guess it's all good. XD

Yeah, she probably is.

Haha, yeah, that was a bit weird. I was like WTF too, but I just wasn't sure what to say about that so I just...didn't. I agree that I think that's what they were trying to say, but, yeah... O_o

Aw, thank you. :3 I don't know what she'd make of you, LOL. After a little while in fandom, you learn that the pairings someone likes doesn't mean anything about their sexuality (if it did the majority of fanfic writers would be gay men instead of preteen girls) so I'm going to guess the reviewer hasn't been participating in fandom for too long.
