I've been thinking about getting a writing journal. I wasn't really sure how I'd be using this journal when I first made it or how much fanfic I'd be posting up here, but it's apparent to me now that I'm going to be...ah...posting rather a lot of fanfics, and I plan on getting some more original writing up here eventually, too. I know some of you guys have writing journals (and even if you don't, I value your opinion), and I was wondering would you recommending getting one? And if you do, would you recommend getting a seperate account or creating a community for a writing journal like I've seen some people do?

YOU SHOULD. I have a writing journal. :)

Oh, really? I didn't know that. XD Can I have a link, please?

What kind of writing journal do you have, though? Is it a community or just a regular journal? And do you know if it's possible to transfer posts from one journal to another (as oppossed to having to repost all my stories in the new journal)?

Hahahah, it's [livejournal.com profile] suridasu, and as you can tell, it's a community.

I prefer a community, just so I don't have to log out of my normal account to post to it. I didn't transfer any posts (I dunno if that's possible), I just set up a master post for all my fanfiction written previous to the establishment of the journal. Like, it linked to where I'd posted the fanfiction, etc.

Cool. Thanks for the link!

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll make a community just because it'll be easier. I wanted to call it "mighterthanthesword" but unfortuantly that has four more characters than it allows...maybe I'll just call it "thanthesword." >.>

A master post? Sounds good. Thanks for the advice. :)

Hahah, no problem.

Yeah, naming is always pretty troublesome. "Thanthesword" sounds pretty cool though :)

Once again, no problem.

Naming is, indeed, troublesome. Especially when you find out the name you were thinking of using is TAKEN! ;_; So not cool.

Back to the drawing board, I guess. *begins brainstorming*

Oh, I know what you mean. That's incredibly frustrating. I went through so many names before I got to [livejournal.com profile] suridasu.

BRAINSTORM. BRAINSTORM.

Haha, yeah. XD I just went through several more names only to find out they were either being used or had been used so I'd have had to spent $15 to purchase a "rename token" so I could use it. However, I've finally settled on [livejournal.com profile] intheinkpot. Now I just need to post. :D

How did you come up with [livejournal.com profile] suridasu?

Date: 2009-04-13 12:00 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] katakokk.livejournal.com
YAY! Would you like to be affies? :)

Hahahah, well, I watch several icon communities like [livejournal.com profile] kaibyaku ([livejournal.com profile] blooming_cosmo's comm) and [livejournal.com profile] sakusei (which is a community shared by several people on my flist), and I just got the inspiration for a Japanese title from that. Then I wanted a writing related one. And [livejournal.com profile] suridasu means to publish, so yeah.

Date: 2009-04-13 09:40 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] darkauthor26.livejournal.com
Sure. :) ...Um...how do I do that, exactly? ^_~

Cool. That makes more sense than what I did. XD I just came up with random names until I found one I liked. Although, [livejournal.com profile] intheinkpot comes from a writing quote I found online, so maybe it's not as random as I think. >.>

Hahahahah, I basically just add you to my list of affies. Kind of lame, but it may get your some more watchers/members.

Hahahahah, I tried that at first, but they all sounded to third-grade and cheesy. I'm bad with usernames. :\

Hahaha, I thought "the list of affies" was, like, a formal thing, but it looks like it's just an informal list on your profile page. I was looking for something like "manage your affies" or something. XD God, I'm just a n00b. *adds you to list*

Heheh, I'm not much better, I don't think. XD After all, I am called Darkauthor26.

A community is nice because you don't have to bother with signing in and out of your current account to post fic/reply to comments, but other than that there's not much of a benefit that I can see making a community over making another journal. I say go for it, if you want. :D

Date: 2009-04-12 01:00 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] darkauthor26.livejournal.com
Ah, well, I'm lazy, so a community would probably work better for me. XD So that's two for go for it. I'll probably make it tomorrow or something.

By the way, do you know if it's possible to transfer journal entries from one journal to another or something? So I don't have to repost my fics (or at least post links to the fics here)?
